The ideas, questions, and comments from our Paschalville Library meeting attendees are important to us. Below, please take a look at the discussion highlights from the participants of our July 15th, 2021 Virtual Meeting.

Discussion Highlights:

  • Excitement to see library come to life again.

  • Excitement about the plans.

  • What is the target date for re-opening?

  • Concern about speeding on the streets. What can be done to mitigate this issue?

  • Need for more lighting around the Library. Could we put lights on the planters as well?

  • Loved design for the lower-level with glass walls.

  • Intersection being next to the children’s area might be a safety hazard. Can we put signs up?

  • Loved the proposed improvements to the community room.

  • Will there be signage connecting to other area amenities like Bartram’s Garden, Cobbs Creek Trail, etc.

  • Steps being moved to the back is similar to the 19th Street aesthetic.

  • Request for a book drop that goes directly into the building.

  • Liked the stairs in the back.

  • Concern about the occupancy of the elevator. Could a parent, stroller, and multiple children fit?

  • Need to raise community awareness about the project as well as the meetings.

  • Need for a dedicated staff bathroom.

  • Woodland Avenue is noisy. Consider re-orienting/moving the outdoor space.

  • Worries about soft surfaces (furniture) attracting dirt and bugs.

  • What kind of HVAC system will be installed?

  • Consideration for lounge-like areas and big tables for young people to work in groups.

  • Stairs in middle of the room uses too much space – preference for stairs at the back wall.

  • Email subscriptions to reach young people.

  • Lots of people come with large groups of family members. Will there be signage about what can fit and how to navigate that?

  • Lots of senior homes in the area. Need for a larger elevator.

  • Instead of concrete seating, perhaps use wood materials.

  • Having enough open space outside to do programs such as movies, etc.
